I just want everyone in Springfield, Illinois and the surrounding area to know that I tried every way I possibly could to obtain the financing necessary to purchase Rockin' Robin and make some much-needed improvements, including turning that large, nearly empty room in the front of the building back into a bar room so that the business could be open 7 days a week. Banks in this town would not help me. Most didn't want to talk to me unless I had at least 20% cash to put down. Some wanted 30%. They all cited recent bar/restaurant failures, particularly The Barrel Head Pub, as the reason for needing such a down-payment. Not even the bank that has the current financial information and mortgage would help me. When you're talking that kind of money, that's a lot to come up with for a down payment. I simply don't have it and don't have any friends that have it, either. I want to thank everyone for the encouragement to go for it. I want to thank the current owner for trying every way possible to help me get it to work out. I want to thank the City Liquor Commissioner and the Mayor for their patience with me while I tried to obtain the financing regarding the liquor license. I guess it just wasn't meant to happen, but believe me, I certainly tried and gave it my best shot. I had some big and great plans for that place, besides it being the place to go to dance - KevinB.
